Michael Jackson passed away last Thursday. It was a shocking death as Jackson was preparing for a 50 concert comeback tour. In the days that followed appropriate tributes followed. MTV and VH1 spent the entire weekend playing all of Jackson video hits. As Monday rolled around though Jackson would not leave the news. He was the front page story on every newspaper for 6 days and counting, and all the local news telecasts were opening their news telecasts with new developments. By Tuesday it was sickening I couldn’t take it anymore. Last night I went home and shut out the world. I didn’t want to hear anymore about Michael Jackson. The man was the king of pop, an icon, a legend of music but the press was ridiculous. Michael lived as private of a life as he could now that he was dead the media was trying to expose all of his secrets. From not having his father in his will, to his kids not being his. Let the man rest in peace. Michael Jackson had his faults but in his death it is not time to bring them out.

Shame on the media.

What the hell is wrong with people age 18-21 nowadays? They think tattoos and piercings are badges of honor. They show them off as if you are supposed to give them some sort of respect for having them. I’m not saying I hate tattoos or piercings, but when is it too much? I have seen men and women with an insane number of piercings. For example, I was riding a New York City bus and this girl no older then 16 told her friend that she has her tounge, ear (at least 5 on each lobe), brow, and nipple piercings. She was telling her friend that she is going to get her nose  and clitoris pierced. She was angry cuase she had to wait til she was 18 to get her clitoris pierced. I was like jeez! Why is she so proud of that? You’re just mutilating your body. What happens when you’re forty had three kids, those percings or tatoos won’t look so nice. I was just on My Space checking out a persons profile on there profile the had a set of pictures that show every tattoo they have gotten. There were at 8 so far. I ask where is the glory or honor in this? There isn’t…it just youth being stupid and rebelling. I remind the youth of this that tattoo or piercing looks nice now, but it may cost you a job, or other opportunities in the future.

Gamestop Blacklisted

I have been shoping at Gamestop for years, since the days it was Funcoland, EB Games. Today, I had such a horrid experience that I have indefinatley blacklisted them when it comes to game purchases. This weekend Gamestop had a buy 2 get one free deal on all used games and accessories. They also had a game I’ve been coveting for about a year on sale used. Heavenly Sword which is a PlayStation 3 exclusive is $59.99 new, $34.99 used normally. This week it was on sale for $24.99 which I thought was a great deal. I arrived at Gameatop this morning at 11 AM this morning to pick up three games, Heavenly Sword, Lair, both PS3 exclusives and Ninja Gaiden 2 and XBox 360 exclusive. I began my trip at one Gamestop location and they had a bunch of copies of  Lair and Ninja Gaiden 2 but no Heavenly Sword. I was not going to let the coveted game (Heavenly Sword) slip through my hands so I decided to go to another Gamestop which is very close to this first location. I went to the second location and I found what I had been looking for, Heavenly Sword. I grabbed the last case on the rack (also meaning last copy) and then looked for the other games on my list. To my amazement none of the other game were available. I wandered around the store to see what was available and realized that allot of the newer (games released within the last six months) used games were not in stock. An alarm rang in my head telling me this wasn’t right. So after awhile I decided to pick up Heavenly Sword alone. I spoke to the sales associate at the register and asked him what other used games they had were available. He replied “whatever is on the shelves” I said what about Nina Gaiden? I pointed at a copy sitting at the counter behind him. He replied “that just came in”. I knew that was bullshit, cause Gamestop never takes a recently sold back game and tag it and put it on a shelve. When you trade in a game to Gamestop they throw the game in a bin and it is tagged after closing and then added to the shelf for the next day. This guy was blowing smoke out his ass, there were two logical explainations as to how the game ended up on the counter 1) somebody picked up the game off the shelve to buy and changed their mind last second. 2) One of the employees was holding the game for purchase. To make my point, I think Gamestop took all the great games off of shelves for this B2G1 free promo. As most Gamestops seemed sold out of the good titles after only one day of a B2G1 free sale. I find that highly suspect. Especially when recent releases cost $55 used. That = blacklisting.

Gaming…

This year has been an interesting one when it comes to gaming. Early in the year everyone was waiting for Street Fighter IV, Resident Evil 5, Killzone 2, and Resistence 2. Once these games were released there was a dry spell in the gaming community. Resident Evil 5 was released on March 13, that was the last huge in the gaming community. After a boring month and a half the end of May brought a goody InFamous was released for the PS3. It was and exclusive to the PS3 and it was highly rated by the game reviewers.  Then came Bionic Commando a new take on the NES classic. Now this week was the release of Prototype a highly anticipated new title. Though Prototype has received mixed reviews it is still priased for how fun and open the gameplay is. Next week another highly anticipated title will be released, Ghostbusters the game. The story for the game was written by Dan Akroyd and Harold Ramis. Known to Ghostbuster fans as Ray and Egon. Perliminary reviews so far gave been good for this title. Gaming has been good in 2009. I’m looking forward to see what the rest of the year holds.

MTA, slowing your day…

What the heck is up with the MTA? I’m guess that service cuts went in to effect this week. I have been late to work and have had longer trips home. On top of that I have seen buses and trains taken out of service right in front of my eyes.

Yesterday, was probably the worst day. I left work at 4:45 PM. I took my usual subway train. Which was on time (first time all week). I get off the train and begin to wait for the bus as I always do. As I walked down the stairs I see a bus pull away. I didn’t think much of it. I said to myself it’s rush hour and another bus will be here in 5-7 minutes. Boy, was I wrong. I waited there 10 minutes, no bus. Another 10 minutes went by, still no bus. Finally, about twenty-five minutes later a bus shows up. I get on the bus only to have an MTA employee jump on the bus and says the bus was going back to the depot everybody off. I see another bus coming up from behind I’m like okay quick transition. Well this MTA employee tells the bus driver of the bus behind to keep going. So I’m still waiting for a bus now. Finally another bus shows up about 10 minutes later. I get home at 6:20 PM a total of one hour and thirty five minutes. The normal ride usually takes 30-40 minutes.

What pissed me off is the MTA wants more money and cuts services to the point that makes you wonder, why am I paying for this? I’m sure I’m not the only one that feels this way.

Surprising weekend…

Written by Snake. No comments Posted in: Life

This weekend was good, but it just left me with many questions. I don’t want to get in to details of what made this weekend good. In the end though I was surprised at what happened. I know that I wear my feelings and heart on my sleeve but after everything that happened I have to ask myself where do I go from here? It will take me time to answer that question, I have to look long and hard at myself to determine what I want. The one thing that this weekend did for me was get me thinking that its time I get what I want and deserve except for settilng for what is available. That is the one thing that I have always done. When I can’t get what I want I always setting for second best no matter what it is, electronics, clothes, etc. Well no more, from this point on I get only what I want and no less.

And I don’t care who has any problems with that. If you have a problem with that keep walking.

The New York Yankees whom just spent a whopping $423+ million dollars on CC Sabathia, AJ Burnett, and Mark Texeira have asked NYC for $260 million in tax-free bonds to complete additions to the new stadium.

I didn’t have a problem with the Yankees getting tax-free bonds to begin the building of the new staduium. However, according to this report the Yankees added these amenities after the were approved for the initial bonds.

Check out some of the cost of these amenities:

- $14.2 million for various scoreboard changes.

- $5 million for fancy public- bathroom improvements, including “burnished and glazed block” and “solid surface countertops.”

- $10.5 million for new “suite level upgrades.”

- $10.7 million for a huge new “video board.”

- $8.7 million for the team’s administrative offices.

These are just the minor ones.  Some of the major ones are laughable such as a Hard Rock Cafe in the stadium,  a Yankees Steakhouse. That’s right a steakhouse, I don’t know about you but if I go to the stadium why would I want to eat steak at what will probably be one of the most overpriced steakhouses in NYC. Now the Yankees will say these are for the high priced rollers you see at the stadium celebrities such as Donald Trump, Billy Crystal, etc. News Flash Yanks, most these guys don’t eat at the stadium they’ll drink alcohol though. Usually the expensive kind too. Maybe the Yankees should open a liquer store inside the stadium…That would be awesome, lol. You could watch a game and down some Courvoisier. You’ll be so drunk that by the fourth inning you won’t give a damn whats going on just like the celebrities at the game.

Yankees fund your own damn stadium.

PS: I’m a Yankees fan and am outraged. Fucking cheap bastards.

Long time no post…

Written by Snake. No comments Posted in: Life

Hello everyone.

It has been a while my last post was on November 24th. Just before Thanksgiving. I have been busy and trying to get things on track. Finding a way to manage my time has been a pain over the last month. I never seem to have time for anything. I’m going to see if I post more over the next few weeks.

Talk to you soon.
